Home Healing: Remedies for Swollen Gums Near the Tooth

Saltwater rinses

Mix 1 teaspoon of salt and 8 ounces (about 250 ml) of warm water. Make sure the water is not too hot. Take a sip of the saltwater solution and swish it around your mouth for about 30 seconds, making sure it reaches all areas of your gums. Spit out the rinse. Do this 2 to 3 times a day.

Salt and Baking Soda Rinse

Mix 1/2 teaspoon of salt and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in a cup of warm water until they dissolve completely. use it as a mouthwash. Spit out the rinse and avoid swallowing it.

Essential oils

Always dilute essential oils in a carrier oil (such as coconut oil or olive oil) before applying them to your mouth. Mix only a few drops of essential oil with 8 ounces of warm water. Swish the diluted essential oil mixture in your mouth for a short time (15-30 seconds) and then spit it out. Do this 2 times a day until the swelling goes away.

Warm and cold compresses

Soak a clean towel in warm water, and squeeze out the excess water. Hold the warm damp cloth against your face or wrap a few ice cubes in a clean towel— outside of your cheek, over the swollen area. Hold it there for 5-10 minutes, and repeat as needed.

Turmeric gel

After brushing your teeth, rinse your mouth with warm water. Apply turmeric gel to your gums and Let it for about 10 minutes. Swish fresh water around your mouth to rinse off the gel and Spit it out. Do this 2 times a day until the swelling goes away.
