Yoga For Eyes

Yoga for eyes is a simple eye yoga workout that can be done at any time of the day, even in the office.

Many of the yoga postures specially designs to improve the functioning of the body parts. Similarly, Various poses are available in yoga to improve the functioning of the eyes, these poses or asanas are helpful in curing many problems related to the eyes. such as- eye strain, dry eye, long sightedness and short sightedness.

With regular practice of Eyes Yoga asanas for a few months, the functioning of the eyes becomes normal. However there is no evidence to support the claim that eye yoga can actually improve your vision. But some evidence has shown that eye yoga may actually help your ability to focus and relieve symptoms of eye strain.

After some time of regularizing the given yogasanas, eye related problems gradually start reducing.

Sarvangasana (Shoulder Stand Pose)

Lie down on your back. Place your hands next to the torso and palms down. While breathing in, raise your legs straight up. Support the waist with the palms. Staying straight in this position, all the weight has to be put on the shoulders. While exhaling, slowly bring down the waist and legs.

Halasana (Plow Pose)

In Halasana yoga, your position looks like a plow. The practice of this yoga helps you to increase your eyesight and increase the blood circulation in the head.

To do Halasana yoga, you lie straight on the floor on your back. Now lift your feet off the floor and keep both the feet standing at an angle of 90 degrees. Then bend your legs at a 180 degree angle while taking them over the head until your toes touch the floor. Your back should be perpendicular to the floor. Do this process slowly and comfortably. Keep breathing and feel relaxed.

Simhasana (Lion Pose)

Sit down comfortably. Keep both the palms pressed on the knees and bring the body slightly forward. While exhaling, take out the tongue in such a way that it is touching the chin. Keep your mouth open. Try to see the Agya Chakra with your eyes. Breathe through the mouth or nose. Enhances the beauty of the face and also improves eyesight.

Trataka Yoga Kriya

Trataka is an exercise to cleanse the eyes. Sit comfortably with your gaze on an object. Keep looking at the object without blinking until your eyes start to water. Then, close your eyes and try to imagine the object you’ve been looking at for a long time. Every time you do this exercise, keep your eyes closed and increase the time to look at the object.

Plam Rubbing

First of all, sit in Sukhasana, Padmasana or Vajrasana. now close your eyes After this, rub both your palms together in such a way that they become warm and keep them on both your eyelids. With both eyes closed, feel that the heat of the palms is reaching the eyes. This action can help to relax the eye muscles. Keep the palms above the eyes like this for some time and then rub them back and put them on the eyes. This action can be done for at least 5 minutes.

Blinking

Most sit in Sukhasana, Padmasana or Vajrasana and keep your eyes open. After this, blink the eyes quickly for about 5 seconds. Now close your eyes for 5 seconds and focus on the movement of the breath. This exercise can be repeated about five to six times for better results.

Near and Far Focus

Sit comfortably and place your thumb about 10 inches in front of your face. Focus on your thumb for a few seconds, then switch your focus to an object in the distance. Repeat this process several times. This exercise helps strengthen the eye muscles and improves focus flexibility.

Rotating Eyes yoga

To do Rotating Eye Yoga, make a fist in your right hand and keep your thumb pointing upwards. Now focus the eyesight on the thumb of the fist. Make a circle by rotating your hands in a circular motion and keep your eyes on your thumb. Rotate 5 times in clockwise and anti-clockwise directions.

After completing all the above-mentioned exercises, lie down in Savasana for some time and take a rest. Breathe normally and don’t resist any thoughts and sensations.

Savasana

By doing Savasana, the eyes get rest, and the light increases. Along with this, it also helps in fighting many serious diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes, psychosis, depression, heart disease, etc.

Yogic eye exercises can be beneficial for strengthening and relaxing the muscles around the eyes, reducing eye strain, and potentially improving overall vision.
