Gokhru herb is a prostate-spreading medicinal herb that is probably considered to be the most useful traditional medicinal of the country of India.

In most parts of India, it is known as Gokharu. Each of its parts has certain medicinal properties. Hence it is useful for treating various clinical conditions such as weakness in men, kidney dysfunction, urinary problem, digestive tonic, ulcer, fever, gonorrhea, dysuria, leucorrhea (leucorrhoea), puerperal diseases, etc. It helps to break and eliminate kidney stones, also increases the secretion of hormones in the body and supports muscle building. What is Gokhru(Pedalium murex)

Gokhru is an annual herb, which grows abundantly after summer rains in South India, northern India, Haryana, Rajasthan.

Pedaliaceae is a plant called Pedalium murex, which is often found in sandy or rocky ground in India. It is a creeper that known as ‘Bada Gokhru’. It appears during the month of July – September.

Its flowers are yellow, small, circular, with thorns, shiny about 0.7–2 cm in diameter or diameter. These fruits are useful in healing and its origin (in decoction) or fruit (powder) is used in medicine.

Its fruits are small, round, flattened, five-angled, 2–6 with thorns and many BGs. Its roots are soft fibrous, 10–15 cm long, light brown and slightly fragrant. Somewhere poor people make flour of its seeds and eat it.

In this way, this traditional medicine is known for treating various diseases in India.

It has many common names like Goathead, Burra Gokharu, puncture vine, Cathead, Bindii, yellow vine, etc. Many other names, such as Telugu-Yenugu Palleru, Sanskrit-Brihat Gokshur, Marathi-Sharatte, Kate Gokharu, Malayalam-Neringil, Hindi-Bada Goshur, English-Large caltrops.

Gokharu is another plant under the genus Zygophylleae called Tribulus terrestris, known as ‘Chhota Gokhru’. Its fruits are also used like big Gokharu.

Side Effects of Gokhru
