Origin of Tulsi or Basil

In Hindu mythology, there was a girl named Vranda in the mythical era, was the supreme devotee of Lord Vishnu. His marriage was done by the demon king Jalandhar, he was born from the sea.
Once there was a war between the gods and the demons when Jaldhara went to war and she sat in worship with a resolution to win.

Meanwhile, Lord Vishnu took the form of Jalandhar and reached Vranda’s home. Seeing them, she left the resolution in the middle. As soon as his resolve was broken, the gods killed Jaldhara in the war and dropped his head into her palace. And after losing her husband’s war, she became Sati with his head. When a plant came out of his ash, Lord Vishnu said – From today, her name is Tulsi.
